When should I get Acupuncture?
True health is about harmony, and comes from cultivating balance both inside of ourselves and with the world around us. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine are healing arts designed to help individuals attain and maintain harmony in their lives.

Paul Magee, L.Ac., graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern Health Sciences University with a Master's degree in Oriental Medicine. He holds a Diplomate of Acupuncture from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and is an acupuncturist licensed by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.

Paul is also a 7th generation lineage holder of Yang style Taijiquan, with extensive experience in qigong and Daoist meditation. He has also studied shamanism and is a reiki practitioner. Paul brings his expertise in all of these fields to each treatment, to help bring each patient to both inner and outer balance.

When should I get acupuncture?

Probably the most common question I get as an acupuncturist is "When should I get Acupuncture?" Since Acupuncture is brand new to most Americans, I think this is an extremely reasonable question. The answer comes in three parts.

1) When you have a chronic health problem. Both the National Institute of Health and the World Health Organization recognize that Acupuncture is an effective treatment for certain conditions. The most common conditions that Acupuncturists treat fall into four main categories
  • Pain, from headaches to fibromyalgia to TMJ, Acupuncture can treat any sort of pain.

  • Nausea & other gastrointestinal problems, like IBS.

  • Emotional issues like depression and anxiety.

  • Women's health conditions like painful periods, fertility issues and menopause.

2) When you're feeling sick. It amazes me when patients call up to cancel their appointments because they're "catching a cold". If you're well enough to get to my treatment room, you should certainly come in. Acupuncture & herbs can drastically reduce the amount of time that a cold or other sickness will lay you low.

3) When you want to live a long & healthy life. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine are very good at detecting minor imbalances early on, and I can provide regular "tune up" treatments to help you keep your mind, body and spirit healthy. The frequency of these treatments will vary on your age and overall health, but are usually recommended once every 1- 3 months.

This is a very general overview, and I would encourage you to either e-mail or phone me with any specific questions or concerns you may have.
